[There's a Tifa holding a Budew in one arm, the little pokémon makes a little happy noise at the camera]

Hey, so I made it to Azalea finally and turns out my travelling partner is in that coma thing. Nurse Joy says he's been like this for a while, so I'm assuming he's doing that thing where you go to sleep for a while and wake up and suddenly you're more knowledgeable about what happens in your future.

That is still happening, right? I don't have to worry about him, or anything, right?

[She gives the 'gear a skeptical look. Then there's some sounds and Tifa looks away from the camera for a moment.]

Also... [She turns the device and now there's a weedle and a caterpie on screen.]

These two little guys have been following me around since a bit before arriving at Violet. They won't go when I tell them too, but they won't fight my Johnny or let themselves get caught, what's up with that? It's nearly been two weeks! I've been leaving them alone but with the way the nights have been recently....

I was worried that might be the case. You think it has anything to do with the weather lately? I learned from the last time I was here that when the weather gets weird, some things start...happening.

It happened last time around this time of the year too, oddly enough.

Have you heard of something called "Halloween"?

"Halloween?" Oh! Oh, yes! That's right, that was a thing they were talking about last time, too! When explained to me, it wasn't like anything I have back home, but the date was nearly identical to Samhain.

My guess is it almost certainly has something to do with the date. Not that it's much consolation now, but it's possible that everything will be back to normal on Friday.

On the other hand, it's still early enough that the timing could be coincidence, or this could be something gathering power for an even worse effect. Either way.

It could be! Who knows. I know weird stuff happened whenever the first wave of people who came here had the pokéversary.

Something happened on a 13th of Friday as well, though I don't remember the significance of the date.

... Pokeversary?

[ He didn't hear about anything like that, also that's an even sillier word than he's used the hearing around here. ]

Well, it's a bit fuzzy...I remember waking up to finding out I didn't remember three whole days. Seemed like everyone else felt the same. It happened three times...I think? Early June, and then again in...December? I'm not sure, but it was snowing.

I don't know if that's still happening, though.

Aha. I didn't realize that was a significant date for any other reason.

Now that's curious.

Hmmm...I'm not sure? Maybe it truly is when the first outsiders started arriving. It's always just been speculation, but seeing as no one knew what was happening at first...

It's a mystery.

So when was it when someone finally got their feet underneath them?

Mmm...I think around the time my group made an appearance? Everyone else had already been around for a while, long enough to read the manual anyway. A lot of people kinda...accepted it? Naturally a lot of people wanted to find ways to go home but, well...

You see how that went, considering we're all here.

How long ago was that?

Hm... [Give her a moment.]

Let's see, the first time I was here, it was June... And Cecil said it's been...

Well it'd have been over three years now. Nearly three and half.

[ ... Huh. ]

You know, I'm not sure if I was expecting a number more or less than that. It seems so... short.

[A small shrug]

I have nothing to really compare that to. I can't say I've been kidnapped to other worlds before. It was pretty strange at first for me, though. The people who'd been there the longest when I arrived had only been there for two weeks or so.

Think about it. How long has this world existed? There's plenty of evidence of a long history, and presumably back even further than what we know of. Why did this sort of thing only start recently? Why isn't there anyone from other worlds who came here any earlier?

[Now we're thinking with portals. Or at least, you are. Tifa's so lost. But it gets her thinking.]

Technology maybe?

There's not many other options, are there? Technology, nature, or the Pokemon themselves. Technology is the one most likely to change. So then, what happened three years ago?

Good question! But to be honest, it seems the technology here is very different from mine back home. I still don't quite understand how the pokéballs work, much less contemplate time and space.

But most of the advanced technology is centered around the Pokemon themselves, wouldn't you say? It's a valid thing to invest energy into, given how pervasive they are in people's lives here. How would something like that lead to something which reaches between worlds?
